Filed under: Family — bruce @ 5:17 pm

All of the treadmill reviews agree that the Nordictrack treadmill is the cream of the crop out of treadmills. The Nordictrack treadmill reviews offer us the facts: Nordictracks have larger decks for running making them more comfortable for taller and larger people as well. They have heavier motors in them and one of the best warranties in the industry. While they tend to be a little more expensive, Nordictrack treadmills do seem to be worth the money in every aspect. If you are looking around online for a treadmill, make sure that you check out all the treadmill reviews available. Another great thing about Nordictrack treadmills is the amount of toys that many of them come installed with. Anniversary Gift Ideas

Filed under: Family — bruce @ 5:17 pm

The divorce rate for first marriages in the United States is currently hovering at around 41 percent and for all marriages, it’s closer to 50 percent. Given these astonishing statistics, it’s no surprise that wedding anniversary celebrations are something of a big event these days.

Five and ten year anniversary celebrations usually involve a major gift from the husband to the wife. For men who don’t usually do much shopping, this can be a big challenge. If you’ve been married long enough to celebrate a big anniversary, you also probably know better than to run into Target and pick out the first cubic zirconia earring set you see. A big anniversary calls for a well thought out, personalized gift that comes from the heart.

If you’re not sure what type of jewelry your spouse likes or wants, start out by looking at the jewelry they’ve already got. Does she have a lot of nice earrings, but not a single cubic zirconia necklace? You can’t go wrong purchasing jewelry that compliments pieces she already owns.

Don’t be shy about seeking assistance from friends and family members if you’re not sure what pieces of jewelry she likes, or what pieces go together. This is exactly the kind of thing that sisters, mothers and mother in laws live for.

One jewelry style that’s very popular these days is the charm bracelet. This updated take on the classic piece of little girl jewelry is an ideal way to personalize your gift giving. Most jewelry stores have a large selection of charm bracelets charms that can be used to commemorate any number of life events. Common charms include wedding rings, baby pacifiers, and geographical landmarks (to commemorate a honeymoon). It would be a pretty unusual woman who was not touched by a gift as thoughtful as this.

Jewelry is really the ideal anniversary gift, even if you’ve already made plans to take a vacation to commemorate the date. There’s nothing wrong with surprising your spouse with a gift of jewelry while you’re on vacation. Consider having the gift mailed ahead so that the front desk clerk at the hotel can hand her the package when upon arrival.

Keeping a marriage together is a lot of work and that makes anniversaries all the more special. If you’ve made it five, ten, or even twenty years, reward yourself and your spouse with a nice piece of jewelry and a vacation.

Jewelry with Meaning

Filed under: Family — bruce @ 12:20 pm

Since man first started wearing necklaces made of stone and shell, jewelry has always been infused with meaning. Anyone who doesn’t believe that should take a look at the millions of men and women who wear wedding rings. And while any piece of jewelry can acquire sentimental meaning, certain pieces come with a rich history already attached.

celtic bracelets and necklaces are a great example of jewelry with history and meaning. The most common symbol on these bracelets is the Celtic Knot, which symbolizes eternal life. Endless life is frequently symbolized with circular jewelry which has no beginning or end.

chakra bracelets are decorated with round, colored stones or jewels. Different colored stones have different meanings. Chakra devotees believe that wearing the stones in certain patterns enhance, or merely highlight certain personal attributes, such as joy or harmony.

These are just a few examples of jewelry that carries meaning beyond mere decorations. There are hundreds of crystals and gemstones that are meaningful to various people across the world. And what’s meaningful to one group of people may seem ludicrous to another.

The important thing is to wear the jewelry that means something to you. And if you are wearing a certain type of jewelry for decoration, try to respect its origins.

Anniversary Gifts for Jubilees

Filed under: Family — bruce @ 5:23 pm

For a 50th anniversary gift, the present that comes from the heart is the most fitting gift to give any couple as by then they do not want to collect unnecessary stuff and items around the house.  They are most probably leading a retired life and do not want the hassles of dusting and cleaning curios and mementos.  The best gifts to give would be something that is made by hand with a lot of love, caring and appreciation for what the couple really means to you.  Diamond or 60th wedding anniversary gifts are a joy to give and receive.  Diamond rings and cuff links, diamond earrings and pendants or diamond tie pins make excellent gifts for 60th weddings.   Since we all cannot give diamonds as gifts, crystal comes the closest to diamonds and make excellent gifts.

Family photos, photos of them as a young couple, group photos of all the grand and great grand children put into a silver plated frame studded with artificial diamonds makes a simple and not a very costly gift.  Family lunch parties or a family picnic if the couple is healthy enough to enjoy the outdoors would also make a memorable gift to the couple

Weeknight Meals for Working Moms

Filed under: Family — bruce @ 10:30 pm

One of the biggest challenges faced by working mothers is how to hold down a full time job and still put a hot nutritious dinner on the table every night. Face it, if you’re working until 5 p.m. and getting home at 6 p.m., you might not be able to serve dinner until 7 p.m. at the earliest.

By that time, the kids have probably already overdone it on snacks and getting them to put their clothes up on hangers would probably be easier than getting them to eat dinner.. So what’s a working mother to do?

One of the best ways to get a good meal on the table without a lot of effort is to freeze meals ahead of time. Visit any library or bookstore and you’ll find a number of really good recipe books that utilize this technique. The key to freeze ahead recipes is to set up a cook day once or twice a month to make all the items you’ll need for a while.

For example, you might wind up spending a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon making a triple or quadruple sized batch of spaghetti sauce. When it’s finished and cooled down, you simply pour it into plastic food storage containers and put it in the freezer. On the day you want to serve up the sauce, just move it from the freezer to the refrigerator before you go to work. By the time you get home it will be defrosted and all you’ll need to do is boil up some noodles, heat the sauce and you’re all set.

If you don’t want to get stuck with too much of one frozen meal, consider starting or joining a frozen dinner club. All you have to do is find a couple likeminded cooks and dropping off your food in disposable food storage containers at their house and they’ll do the same at your house. You can have as many club members as you like, but usually it’s easiest to limit the number to around six.

Once you’ve been cooking and freezing for a while, you’ll start to get a picture of what foods freeze well and which ones don’t. Of course the biggest benefit to cook and freeze meals is that you’ll get to actually sit down for a nutritious dinner with your family and happily discuss your day.

Reaching the age of 60 is definitely something to celebrate. If you are thinking about 60th birthday ideas there are several things you can do.
