CBT Training Videos

Filed under: Computers — bruce @ 1:01 pm

In terms of goals of training, there’s no significant difference between instructor-led or classroom training and computer based training (CBT). They’re obviously different in terms of delivery methods of instructional content.

In formal training, a person can achieve the training thru the use of a classroom with a instructor led. In comparison, the instructional content in CBT is delivered via the Internet, intranet or CD/DVD. It doesn’t require the presence of an instructor at the time of learning.

Training regarding Information Technology (or IT) widely uses CBT for two reasons: 1) the user knowledge of computers and 2) ever-changing nature of information technology. IT CBT training could be either used as the primary methods of IT training or supplements to instructor-led training. IT training videos and books are often used to supplement instructor-led training.

The classroom with instructor led training delivers advantages for the person to use IT certification CBT.  Trainees could study the subject further after the official training from the office at another location to further investigate the subject of Information Technology whether it’s how to use Microsoft Office or Cisco routers. The cost of instructor-led training is much higher since it may involve the course fees, travel expense and other miscellaneous costs. Unlike classroom training with limited period access to a trainer for the duration of the course, CBT allows learners to learn at their pace anytime and anywhere.

Classroom training is required for the subjects, such as team-building, which requires human interaction, or if you really want to get away from your office and budget is not a concern. The training for IT certifications often do not require human interaction, CBT often works better than instructor-led training, not to mention an certification training session often sometimes run as high as thousands of dollars. With IT certification CBT, IT professionals can study the subjects at their own time and pace over and over again. IT CBT training often provides simulation test to help testers to get familiar with the test topics so they can past the exams with high scores. IT certification CBT courses combine IT training videos with simulation test and interactive question-and-answers. The use of multiple learning methods greatly enhances training experience. Not to mention, when finishing the entire course, you’ll have an IT certification as a sign of accomplishment.

Offshore Software Development

Filed under: Computers — bruce @ 12:43 pm

Offshore software development is something that more and more software development companies are looking into. Like anything in business, there are benefits as well as drawbacks to offshore software development. Each company has to determine for themselves whether the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Many companies decide to give their Arizona software development a boost by doing some of their business offshore.

If you are in business you have no doubt heard of offshore companies as well as offshore bank accounts and all of the perks that come along with them. If you need to outsource some of your Arizona software design work you may want to send it offshore. Not only can you often get the work done in a hurry you can also get it done for savings. If your company has taken off and you would like to protect your assets, why not consider going offshore with offshore asset protection?

You can create a Phoenix software design company offshore. The way that you can do this is the same way that you would do it onshore. The first thing you need to do is set the corporation up with all of the necessary paperwork, which an offshore management service can help you do. Next, you need to be a person or even hire a person that will be good at designing the interface of your program. In addition to this you will need one or more programmers that will lay out the framework of the program, and then you need a coder to help you code the program. In addition to all of this you need someone to help sell to clients. The great thing about doing this offshore is that there are limitations on the taxes that you will pay; the drawback will be that some people may think you are an illegitimate business because you are offshore. Generally speaking, the tax benefits outweigh the stigma attached with offshore corporations.

What is nice about having an offshore company when you get it all set up is that you can protect all of your assets in the instance of litigation. If you have a Scottsdale software design company and someone decides to sue, the court in Scottsdale cannot touch your assets offshore. This is a nice protection for corporations to have no matter what they sell because it gives them a bit of protection. Having an offshore corporation or at least some offshore bank accounts will also help the company maintain some amount of privacy and will help reduce the taxes that they would pay onshore, even if the bank accounts or corporation must be reported to the United States IRS.

The drawbacks of having an offshore bank account or corporation is the inability to simply walk into a bank, all of the paperwork associated with starting up your bank account or corporation, and becoming accustomed with the laws in the offshore jurisdiction where you will be doing business. Other than this there are not any serious negatives associated with offshore software development, in fact it can be the most profitable way

The History of Microsoft Certifications

Filed under: Computers — bruce @ 2:26 pm

When Microsoft announced recently that the new generation of Microsoft Certifications had just arrived, they inevitably made one stop for a moment remembering how all started and evolved throughout history with over 10 years of certifications to date.

Ten seems to be a determined number in the new generation of certification provided by the leading Internet company than the last year, also announced the new MCA, the Microsoft training practical exam, which is graded by a board of examiners.

As no written exam, the Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA) requires at least 10 years experience in IT, and 3 years of practical experience as a network architect to apply. With this panorama, only a very few IT professionals are ready to apply for a MCA certification.

Although, Microsoft is constantly reviewing all Microsoft Certifications available since the early days when those certifications were designed to respond to the needs of companies and hiring managers for customer support in the workplace.

Among the old certifications under review, we can name some Microsoft training, such as the Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) on Microsoft SQL Server 2000, which candidates are required to pass 3 core exams and 1 elective exam to get the certification.

Other certifications, like the acclaimed MCSE Certification and MCSE training that everybody loves, is about to become a thing of the past, when a series of specialization exams and IP Professional certification tracks take its place with a new approach to qualify as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

Most of the new Microsoft Certifications consist of 3 series and 4 credentials, providing a simpler Microsoft training, and more targeted framework for IT managers in order to validate core technical skills, architectural skills and professional skills, as true professionals in the IT industry.

Microsoft’s new certification structure will be able to guarantee a more flexible, relevant, and cost-effective way to showcase IT professionals skills and, according them, such structure will be fully implemented with the next Windows server/client version.

In the past, Microsoft certifications and Microsoft training were not as specific and targeted like they are going to be now, and either reflected the detail of what a IT certified professional could do. Certifications were part of a learning process but not originally intended to prove expertise to those who needed to measure your technical proficiency.

Contrary to the past, Microsoft has planned extensive support for those IT professional holding old certifications, making easier the transition to the new generation of certifications.

Whether MCSE training, MCSE Certification or any of the mew Microsoft certifications that may impact your career, you must be aware of these changes in Microsoft training, because update your credentials is a must in the competitive and challenging world of IT. MCSE training videos are available at training centers of many large corporations.

Reality Check for IT Training

Filed under: Computers — bruce @ 1:32 am

After a few years in IT industry, most software developers or systems engineers wish they could go back to school and have some un-interrupted time to re-charge their brains. Precisely, they want to go back to a different school to learn new subjects, or the same subjects are taught in a way that is more close to the IT practice. Of course, this will never happen. The curriculums of higher education aren’t going to be designed to chase the fads of IT industry, and doing so won’t help professors’ career either. The closest thing to what IT professionals want is training boot camp, an off-site setting where software developers or system engineers will learn new technology or revisit what you’ve learned on the job without worrying about to beat the project deadlines one after another.

IT boot camps are closely related to IT certifications. For instance, a Microsoft training boot camp is for those who want to pass Microsoft certifications. Companies don’t encourage their IT staff to pass any IT certifications as long they think they can get their job done. IT consulting firms are an exception for this. Consulting companies won’t even hire you if you don’t have certain IT certifications. If a IT degree shows you’ve mastered the principles of information technology, a IT certification demonstrates that you actually know how to apply the principles in the real world, or you can get things done without knowing any principles.

Most IT boot camps or training programs are for computer hardware - CCNP boot camp, or MCSA boot camp. Subjects related to computer software don’t work that well, on the other hand. For hardware, there’s often a clear step-by-step procedures to do the configuration or trouble shooting. For software, developers have their styles of writing code. The syntax part can be easily self-taught from book. Wordpress.org went even far to say “Code is Poetry”.

Why IT Professionals Get Less Training than They Need to

Filed under: Computers — bruce @ 1:30 am

The field of Information Technology is a moving target. New buzz words and technology are popped up everyday. This is not really extravagation considering the number of software companies who have been working harder to release new software products. You would think IT professional will get more training than professionals in other industries. That’s not necessarily true for many reasons.

New software products are fragile, and software engineers often work more than 8 hours a day to catch project deadline. It’s common for them to work on weekend too. It’s hard for companies to let them go for a week’s training without doing the jobs even though the training will help their jobs tremendously. Training is part of IT department’s plan on paper, but it end up with a promise of online computer training class. Even the online training is a luxury in the facts of never ending new features demanded by the companies or their customers. And the online computer training again ended up with “you’ll have the training next year”.

IT professionals are expensive too. The cost of one week’s salary is a few thousand dollars per person. The cost of salary plus the cost of training can easily go above ten thousand bucks. This is another reason that small companies are reluctant to send their IT staffs for off-site training. If it’s not required by the clients, the chance for a systems administrator to go to a MCSE boot camp is slim.

Training courses from the leading providers are behind of what they need to get the job done. They have to figure out how a new server software work in a few days to meet product release date, and training is often not available in a on-demand fashion.

Online training classes from vendors offer the alternative for such a dilemma for IT professionals. There’s a need for the vendors to develop better online training classes and on-call tech support in the fact of even changing environment of IT industry.

Necessary Skill Sets of a Competent Computer Technician

Filed under: Computers — bruce @ 10:30 pm

Today, the world is ruled by people who dominates science and technology. A+ certification training is meant to contribute in providing the necessary skills and knowledge for a competent computer technician. CompTIA A+ certification is one of the most significant recognitions that any IT may hold. Taking an A+ course is a decision that may change your life as a professional, opening the doors to countless opportunities. A typical A+ course includes diverse aspects of computer, security and networking, such as installation, configuration, upgrading and maintenance. A+ certification training often includes a simulated test quizzer with practice test questions to prepare students towards the A+ certification exam. A+ training makes sure that every computer technician understands and identifies the different procedures to install peripheral devices, choosing the appropriate sequence, an example of transceivers and modems, including dial-up, cable, DSL, and ISDN connectivity. In addition, compTIA A+ certification includes exhaustive testing on digital cameras, external storage, UPS (uninterruptible power supply), printers, suppressors, monitors, PDA, infrared devices, and wireless access points. The A+ course cover topics such as the optimization of PC operation in particular situations, taking advantage of the knowledge acquired through the A+ training for predicting certain procedures that occurs in specific scenarios such as installation of additional processors, cooling systems, memory, specialized video cards, NICs, or disk subsystem enhancements. A competent computer technician, how has taken the A+ certification training, will always be able to determine whatever issue that requires upgrading a PC and will be able to identify the components that require such upgrade, as an example memory hard drives, motherboards, BIOS, adapter cards, CUP, laptop power sources, or the addition of PCMCIA cards. A+ certification is only awarded to technicians who are enrolled either in an A+ training or an A+ course, this last is also available in multimedia format to study at home. CompTIA A+ certification is basic for diagnosing and troubleshooting, as well as for preventive maintenance, safety and environmental issues. A+ certification training teaches students about the different maintenance services that a true computer expert can perform periodically. Otherwise, implementing preventive maintenance measures, recommending products and procedures, as well as instructions on how to use them can make companies save hundreds and thousand of dollars for the inadequate handling of equipment. Such maintenance measures may include liquid cleaning compounds, and other non-abrasive or harmful materials for cleaning contact and connections, such as non static vacuums. A+ certification training teaches IT how to clean ventilation, monitors, removable media devices, along with the caring of moisture and dust control on hardware and hard disk.

Internet, HTML and Blog

Filed under: Computers — bruce @ 6:46 pm

The Web was predicated as the 4th dimension or 4th generation of media at the inception of the World Wide Web in late 1980s. Printing, radio, and TV are refereed to as three dimensions of traditional media. In 1989, I was reading an Oreilly books talking about the Web when only universities and government agencies had access to the Internet via text-based and Unix-based interface at the time. The Web would be really nice I though.

There’re three milestones in the course of the Internet becoming a true media for average people, not just a tool for scientists and scholars.

The first milestone is the Internet that use a standard communication protocol TCP/IP. Without a simple yet powerful standard, a computer network will never be able to grow into a global network that connects millions of computers seamlessly.

The second milestone is the HTML, which give the boring Internet a colorful interface. Anyone could master the basic HTML tags for creating Web pages. Just like the TCP/IP, HTML is a simple and powerful standard for rendering web pages. The simplicity again prevails. The Web, without participation of mass, will never be a interactive media.

The third and the latest, sure it won’t be the last, milestone for the birth and popularity of the new generation of media is the Blog. Blog refers to both a software tool for easy publishing and writing styles that is conversational. Wordpress.com, one of the most popular free blog hosting services, caters a community of bloggers close to half million. There goes Spring Snow Blog. With the blog software, one can easily setup a new website in less than 30 minutes without knowledge of computer or HTML. Once again, simplicity prevails. Technorati.com is a blog search engines that indexed 55 millions of blog posts. Blog search engines work better that general search engines, like Google or Yahoo Search!, when it comes to locate a blog site or specific blog posts.
